2 days till TechCrunch Founder Summit: Boston founders don’t need a Silicon Valley address to build something big
I like that TechCrunch chose Boston for this one. The city has quietly turned into a serious hub for biotech, robotics, and deep tech, and founders there have spent years fighting the assumption that real money only flows through Sand Hill Road. An event like this helps push back on that idea, and the timing feels right. Boston's ecosystem has matured past the point where it needs permission from the West Coast.
I'd want to know who's actually on the agenda and whether the networking is structured or just a crowded room of business cards. The $100 savings is a nice hook, but the real value is in the conversations that happen between sessions. Group passes tell me they expect teams, not just solo founders, which is smart. Building a company is rarely a one-person job.
The bigger point is that geography matters less than it used to, but it hasn't vanished. Boston founders still travel to meet investors, and events like this are a reminder that the center of gravity is spreading. I'd go if I could, mostly to see which names show up and what they're pitching.
