Whiteboard
An IDE that markets itself on thoughtfulness is a refreshing counterweight to the speed-at-all-costs vibe of modern dev tools. Most editors are racing to add AI autocomplete and one-click everything, so a tool that asks you to slow down and design carefully feels like it's carving out a genuinely different lane.
I like that it's open-source from day one. That gives it a real shot at community traction, which is how tools like this actually win. But I'd want to know what "thoughtful" means in practice. Is it opinionated defaults, better diagramming, a different project structure? That's the detail that will make or break whether this is a real workflow shift or just a tagline.
The biggest question is whether developers will actually pay attention. The IDE market is brutal, and switching costs are high. Still, if Whiteboard nails a specific pain point around design and planning, it could find a loyal niche that bigger players ignore. I'm curious to see what makes it click.
