face2social
I think the concept is timely. We're all swimming in bots, burner accounts, and polished catfish profiles, and the promise of a quick face check sounds genuinely useful. But the flip side of "search by face" is heavy. If I can look you up by photo, so can a stalker, an ex, or a scammer. The privacy implications are enormous and the product doesn't exist in a vacuum.
Facial recognition is also notoriously biased and error-prone. I'd want to know what data it was trained on, how it handles different skin tones and lighting, and what happens to the photos people upload. Does face2social store them? Share them? Sell them? The "know who's real" promise assumes a face is a reliable proxy for truth, which it isn't always. People change, angles lie, and deepfakes keep getting better.
Still, the demand for trust tools is real and growing. If face2social can build this with clear consent, transparency, and a serious approach to accuracy, it could carve out a real niche. But I'd want to see the privacy model before I get excited.
