Byter
Byter is a startup tackling the messy reality of mobile data tracking: most people have no idea how much data they burn through on any given connection. The pitch is simple and direct, know exactly how much data you use, on every network. That means one tool that watches your usage across Wi-Fi, cellular, and whatever else you're connected to, so you never hit a cap or overage surprise again. It's the kind of utility that feels obvious once someone builds it, but the execution is everything. If Byter can make data awareness automatic and painless, it could carve out a real niche in a market full of carrier apps that are clunky and self-serving. The question is whether they can get distribution and make the product sticky enough to matter.

The pitch is refreshingly blunt. No AI hype, no blockchain nonsense, just a real problem that millions of people hit every month: you blow past your data cap, your speeds get throttled, and your bill quietly creeps up. Byter wants to be the honest broker that tells you what's actually happening on every network you touch.

I like that they're aiming beyond just your phone plan. Every network is a bigger promise, and it's the right one, because the days of a single cellular connection are over. You're on home Wi-Fi, office Wi-Fi, public hotspots, roaming on trips, maybe a hotspot from your laptop. Each one has its own rules and limits, and nobody tracks the whole picture.

What I'd want to know is how they get the data. Do they need to install something on your device, or do they work at the router level? That determines whether this is a five-minute setup or a project. Also, the carrier apps already do some of this, poorly, so Byter has to be dramatically better to justify switching. If they nail the UX, this could be a quiet little winner.
