Bluesky’s AI tool now lets you make games and apps to share on social
Bluesky's Attie AI tool, which launched earlier this year to help users build custom feeds, now lets people create small social apps like games, polls, and dashboards that can be shared as standalone websites. The expansion, discussed by CEO Toni Schneider at TechCrunch Disrupt, extends Bluesky's open, user-driven philosophy from content curation into the app layer, letting non-programmers ship interactive experiences directly on the network. By lowering the barrier to app creation, Bluesky is positioning itself as a platform where the community builds the experience, a stark contrast to the top-down product decisions of larger rivals.

Attie started earlier this year as a way to build custom feeds. Now it builds games, polls, and dashboards that users can share as standalone websites. That's a bigger shift than it sounds, because it moves Bluesky's AI tool from curating content to shipping interactive experiences, and it hands that power to anyone who can describe what they want.

I'd want to know how moderation works here. A feed is just an algorithm; an app can collect data, show ads, or host something harmful, and the lines of responsibility get blurry fast. Bluesky has spent a lot of effort on moderation for posts, but apps are a different attack surface.

Still, I like where this is headed. It treats the network as a platform people build on rather than a fixed product, which fits Bluesky's open-protocol bet. Whether it sticks depends on how discoverable these apps become and whether Attie stays approachable for non-coders. Right now it reads as a promising experiment, not a finished product.
