Dots
I love when someone looks at a hardware quirk everyone else just tolerates and says, "what if we actually used this?" The notch has been a punchline since Apple shipped it, and most of us just live with the awkward gaps in our menu bars. Dots is betting that the space can be more than a black hole, and honestly, that's the kind of scrappy, reframe-the-problem thinking I want to see from founders.
The real question is execution. A utility like this lives or dies on how invisible it feels. If it's snappy and stays out of the way, it becomes one of those apps you forget you're using until someone asks why your Mac looks different. If it's clunky or fights with native macOS behaviors, it'll get uninstalled within a week. I'd want to know how it handles the inevitable edge cases, like apps that already use the notch area for their own menus.
Still, this is exactly the kind of niche, opinionated tool that startup folks love to evangelize. It makes a daily annoyance slightly better, and that's real value. Sometimes a good product just needs to do one thing well.
