Carrie Season 2: Everything Mike Flanagan Has Teased About What’s Next
The interesting thing about a Carrie sequel is that the source material ends with the prom night fire and Carrie's death. There's no road forward in the book, so Flanagan has to build one from scratch. That's either a trap or a rare freedom. I'd want to know whether the second season follows Carrie herself, somehow alive, or turns the story outward to the town of Chamberlain and the people who survive her. The novel is a closed loop, a single pressure valve releasing. Opening that loop again means asking what telekinesis looks like when it isn't a one-time explosion, and that could be more interesting than a straight remake.
I keep coming back to the fact that Flanagan's best work is about grief and aftermath, not just scares. If anyone can make a post-Carrie world feel haunted rather than tacked on, it's probably him. But I'm also wary. The original works because it's short and brutal. A season two has to justify its own existence, and the teaser so far is just a promise. I'll be watching to see if the show treats the prom as an ending or a beginning.
