Forecasts of midterm blue wave put Trump’s legacy on line
The most telling detail here is that Trump's 28 rallies have mostly been in places like Ohio, Texas, Iowa and Kansas, states he already carried comfortably. If I were his strategist, I'd want to know whether that's confidence or caution. Rallying the base in safe territory can shore up turnout, but it doesn't do much to win over the suburban voters who often decide midterms.
A blue wave would reshape his final two years, limiting what he can push through Congress and inviting more oversight. The stakes are real, and the polling suggests Democrats have momentum. Still, midterm forecasts have missed before, and low turnout can surprise everyone.
I'd want to see where the competitive races actually are and how the president's travel reflects that. If he's only playing to friendly crowds, that tells me something about the map his team sees. I think the honest read is that his legacy depends less on the rallies themselves and more on whether they move anyone beyond the faithful.
