RJ Mitte, Who Played Walter White’s Son on ‘Breaking Bad,’ Dies at 34
I keep thinking about the scene where Walter White Jr. stomps down the stairs, crutches swinging, furious at his father. You couldn't tell where the character ended and the actor began. That was Mitte's gift. He refused to let cerebral palsy become a pity hook. He just made it a fact of life, which is exactly how it should be treated on screen. Representation like that changes how we see people and how they see themselves.
I'd want to know what he was working on next. Breaking Bad could have been a trap, but Mitte seemed to be building something beyond that shadow. Thirty-four is far too young, and the loss feels personal even to those of us who only knew him through a screen. I hope his legacy is remembered as proof that a character can be both deeply specific and universally human.
