HoldTalk
The fn key is the most neglected button on a Mac keyboard. Apple ships it doing almost nothing by default, so repurposing it as a universal dictation trigger is genuinely clever. No app switching, no spotlight detour, no copy-paste from a dictation window. You hold, you speak, it lands right where your cursor is. That's the kind of frictionless design that actually changes habits.
The real test is in the details I don't have yet. How does it handle punctuation, editing commands, or switching between languages? Dictation tools live or die on that stuff. I'd also want to know if it's a one-time purchase or a subscription, because the indie Mac utility space has gotten crowded with recurring fees.
This feels like the sort of tool that either stays a beloved niche utility or gets quietly absorbed into macOS proper. Either way, it's a smart reminder that the biggest productivity wins often come from making existing features easier to reach, not from building something brand new.
