Trump says he’ll become ‘Mr. Veto’ if Democrats take Congress
I think the "Mr. Veto" line is classic Trump branding. It gives the base a catchy label for what is actually a pretty ordinary constitutional move. Every president in a divided government leans on the veto pen, and Trump is just signaling he'll use it aggressively. But there's something worth watching here: he's framing his role as pure obstruction, which might fire up his supporters but could also hand Democrats a clear target if they take the chambers.
The interesting part is what he'd actually veto. He's not naming specific bills, just promising to block whatever comes his way. I'd want to know whether he'd use the veto as leverage for his own priorities, like border security or tariffs, or just as a wall against everything Democrats propose. That distinction matters, because a president who vetoes strategically can still cut deals, while one who vetoes everything risks looking like he's running against the government itself. Either way, the veto becomes the loudest tool he has, and it tells us how the next two years might play out if the map flips.
