Warhound raises $200M to engineer war dogs and arm them with Anduril gear
Ben Lamm and Palmer Luckey are two of the loudest names in their corners, Lamm for trying to bring back the woolly mammoth at Colossal, Luckey for building Anduril into a defense juggernaut. So a company that genetically engineers dogs and straps them with Anduril gear was probably inevitable. The $200M Warhound just raised tells me investors see a real market here, and the check size backs that up.
Military dogs are already elite operators, they sniff out bombs and take down threats with handlers by their side. Warhound wants to push the biology further and then slot in the tech. The logistics of deploying engineered canines in the field is what I'd want to see, because a dog that needs special handling or special feed isn't exactly low-maintenance.
I think the ethical angle gets most of the attention and it deserves it, but the more pressing question for me is whether this works better than the dogs we already have. If it does, we're looking at a real shift in how force gets applied. If it's mostly hype, the money still tells you where defense biotech is heading.
