Who Is In Charge At Skydance International – For Now At Least
I keep coming back to the image of a corporate headquarters where the map of the world has no one's name on it yet. Skydance announced its senior leadership with all the confidence of a mission control team, but the international portfolio, hundreds of operations and decades of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery infrastructure, sits in a kind of organizational superposition. No one has been named, and yet someone is clearly making decisions in the meantime.
What I find genuinely strange is how often this happens in big media mergers. The splashy announcements get made, the press releases go out, and the truly enormous pieces of the puzzle quietly wait. I'd want to know who's actually signing off on international deals right now. Is it an interim figure, a committee, or just inertia carrying the old structures forward?
The story matters because global entertainment is where the real money and the real cultural influence live. Whoever ends up with this portfolio will shape what audiences outside the U.S. see for years. I don't envy them, inheriting two massive international operations and merging them is like trying to fuse two galaxies with different orbits. But that's also why I'll be watching.
