Sonari
I love that someone is still chasing the dream of making computer music feel like an instrument instead of a spreadsheet.
The MIDI controller market is crowded, but most of it is just variations on pads and faders. Sonari is betting that your hands waving in the air can be more expressive than a plastic knob, and honestly, that bet has been getting more interesting as gesture tracking gets cheaper and more reliable. If it works smoothly over a standard MIDI connection, it plugs into everything from Ableton to Logic without needing a whole new workflow.
What I'd want to know is how it handles precision. Gesture stuff is great for sweeping filters and ambient textures, but the moment you need a tight, repeatable trigger, the flail factor can kill a performance. I'd also be curious about the learning curve. If it takes a week to get something musical out of it, that's a hard sell for someone who just wants to jam tonight.
Still, any tool that gets a musician moving more and staring at a screen less is worth watching. I hope they nail it.
