Trajectory raises $45M to make AI model training accessible to nontechnical experts
A year old and already worth $300 million. That's the kind of velocity that makes you sit up. The pitch here is simple but powerful: you don't need to be a machine learning engineer to train a model anymore. For every founder I know who's hit a wall trying to get their team to adopt AI because the technical lift was too high, this is exactly the kind of bridge they've been waiting for.
What interests me is who the "nontechnical expert" actually is. A product manager at a fintech? A marketing lead at a consumer brand? The more specific Trajectory gets about its users, the more I'll believe the traction is real. At this stage, the funding is a bet on a category, not just a company.
The broader shift here is that we're moving past the era where AI was only for the initiated. If Trajectory can make model training feel as intuitive as setting up a spreadsheet, the ripple effects could be huge. I'd want to know how their approach differs from the autoML tools that have been around for a while, and whether they're building on top of existing models or something more bespoke. Either way, the money says someone believes the timing is right.
