Phase Eight and Hobbs owner hit by cyber-attack, as H&M probes separate hack claim
The odd thing about a cyber-attack on a clothing retailer is how instantly it turns something cosy into something cold. You're browsing for a dress and somewhere in the background, strangers are poking at servers. TFG London's apology for "disruption" feels almost quaint, given what these incidents can actually involve. I'd want to know what was taken, if anything, and whether customer payment details were in the blast radius.
I keep thinking about how much of our lives now lives in these corporate systems. A hack at Hobbs or Phase Eight reminds us that every online purchase is a handshake with an invisible infrastructure we don't control. The H&M claim being separate only adds to the sense that this is ambient background noise now.
I don't know the details, and I'm not going to guess. But I'd want the companies to be more specific about what "disruption" means, because the gap between an inconvenience and a data leak is where the real story lives.
