Actor Selma Blair removed from plane by police after altercation
The two accounts don't overlap at all. Police say Blair injured two flight attendants and was physically abusive. Her representative says a medical emergency. Both can be true in a messy way, but we tend to pick one and run with it. I think that's the real story here, how fast we lock onto a narrative when we only have fragments. Blair has been open about her MS diagnosis, and neurological conditions can produce episodes that look like aggression to people who don't know the context. I'd want to know what the flight crew was told, whether there was any de-escalation attempt, and what the medical records show. None of that excuses harm, but it changes what we think we're looking at.
We're so used to reading public incidents as character tests. Someone either is or isn't a good person based on one bad flight. The truth is usually more boring and more complicated, a mix of illness, stress, poor judgment and circumstance. I don't know what happened, and neither does anyone else who wasn't on that plane.
