Revealing The Kingdom of Rising Nightmares by Michelle Kulwicki
Half a year out and we've got a title, an author, and a date, which is a different type of tease from the usual cover-drop frenzy. I don't know anything about Labyrinth's End, so the book's name is doing all the work. Rising Nightmares signals a kingdom that's either actively hostile or dangerously waking up, and the duology structure suggests the maze built across two volumes is about to collapse or finally show its way out. I also like that it's a duology, not an open-ended series. Two books is a commitment that respects the reader's time, and a finale locked to a specific month means the publisher is confident it will actually land on schedule. That's rarer in this genre than it should be. I'd want to know what the first book left unresolved, whether the kingdom is a physical place or a psychological state, and how literal those nightmares are. Shadow-dread in titles tends to swing between metaphor and actual monsters, and I'd happily read either. For now it's a blip on the radar, but any final act that commits to a date and a name earns a mark on the calendar.
