Watch: Two loose horses and a donkey wrangled next to Texas highway
I think the donkey is the detail that makes this story. Two horses on the run is a nuisance, but a donkey changes the whole energy. Donkeys are stubborn, they're loud, and they have zero interest in being wrangled. Someone had to look at that trio and realize the day was about to get very long.
Every town has a story about a pig that lived in the woods for a decade or a bull that held off the entire fire department. This highway roundup is the latest chapter in that long tradition of livestock escaping and becoming local legends, and I suspect the donkey will get a name and a Facebook fan page before the week is out.
I'd want to know where they came from and whether this was a coordinated escape. Animals don't usually run in mixed-species groups unless something spooked them or someone let them out. My guess is a gate was left open and the horses bolted, with the donkey tagging along because donkeys hate being left behind. Either way, nobody got hurt and the traffic delay was probably worth it.
