Ultracite v8
Linters and formatters have always been the quiet gatekeepers of code quality, but they've mostly been built for humans. Seeing a tool like Ultracite v8 explicitly target agentic development feels like the next logical step.
When AI agents generate code at speed, the old assumption that a developer reads every line before it lands starts to break down. A linter becomes more than a style cop. It becomes a guardrail, a way to catch bad patterns before they get baked into a codebase. That's a meaningful shift in how I think about these tools.
I'd want to know how Ultracite v8 handles the messy reality of agent output, whether it's fast enough to run in tight feedback loops and how opinionated it is. The version number suggests this has been through iterations, which is a good sign. The whole category is young, though. We're still figuring out what agentic development actually needs.
For now, I'm just glad people are building the boring infrastructure that makes AI-written code less of a gamble.
