Trump joins Hannity-Earhardt wedding rehearsal dinner at Mar-a-Lago
Of all the wedding venues in the country, Sean Hannity and Ainsley Earhardt picked the president's private club for their rehearsal dinner, and the president himself was in the room. That detail lands differently depending on where you sit. To supporters it's a natural gathering of friends and allies. To critics it's another snapshot of how close the Fox News personalities and the White House have become.
I think the more interesting thread is what this says about the media's relationship with power in 2025. A wedding rehearsal is a personal occasion, and presidents have always socialized with journalists. But hosting it at Mar-a-Lago, with administration officials as guests, pulls the curtain back on how intertwined these worlds have gotten. It's hard to square the image of a news anchor toasting the president with the idea that the same network covers him strictly as an outside observer.
The story also raises a fairness question that doesn't have a clean answer. Should a journalist's personal friendships disqualify them from covering the president? That's not for me to decide for anyone else, but the optics matter, and the public gets to weigh them. I'd want to know whether Hannity or Earhardt plan to cover the administration after this, and how Fox addresses the appearance. It's a soft-news item, but the questions underneath it are hard.
