Jackson says he’s ‘concerned’ about Georgia rural voter turnout
The real story here is that Jackson is worried his own supporters will stay home because they think the race is already in the bag. Rural Georgia has voted Republican for a long time, and that confidence cuts both ways. A voter who assumes the outcome is settled doesn't bother to show up, and in a close race those absences add up.
I think he's right to flag this, and it speaks to how modern campaigns obsess over turnout. Both parties now spend enormous effort making sure their base actually votes, because margins in states like Georgia are razor thin. A few thousand rural voters deciding to skip the line could decide the whole thing.
What I'd want to know is whether his campaign has a concrete plan to reach those voters, or if this is just public hand-wringing. Early voting numbers will tell the truth, but by then it might be too late to change course. Jackson has to give people a reason to believe their vote matters, and that's harder than it sounds.
