Zelensky doubts Musk ‘acted alone’ in Ukraine Starlink slowdown
Zelensky pointing at Starshield is the most interesting part of this. That version of the satellite network is built for government and military customers, so it likely runs under different contracts and oversight than the commercial Starlink Ukraine has used. It makes sense that a slowdown on that side wouldn't be a one-man call.
Still, I'd want to know what evidence he's basing this on. Musk has a history of making unilateral decisions about access to his networks, including last year's reported refusal to enable Starlink for an attack on Crimea. That cuts against the idea that he needs anyone's permission. But the military version is a different beast, and the stakes are high enough that Zelensky wouldn't raise this lightly.
I think the truth probably sits somewhere between a single executive and a coordinated decision. Either way, Ukraine's reliance on a private company for military communications is the real story, and it deserves more scrutiny than a back-and-forth about who pushed the button.
