Trump to join tele-rallies 19 states after midterm event cancellations
The pivot from two cancelled in-person events to a 19-state tele-rally blitz is worth a second look. A virtual sprint lets the campaign check off more states in the final 72 hours than any bus tour could, which is a real advantage. But it also trades the energy of a packed arena for a screen, and that energy is part of what rallies are for.
I'd want to know what forced the cancellations in Iowa and Kansas before reading too much into the switch. If it was weather or logistics, the tele-rallies are just a workaround. If it was something else, the story changes.
Either way, the RNC is framing this as demand, not damage control. The quote about voters wanting to hear from the president is classic campaign spin, but it's also true that a digital reach into 19 states at once is a lot of exposure. Whether that substitutes for the personal touch is the real question.
