Yowie sighting, Christmas Hills Forest Reserve in Elizabeth Town Tasmania
I keep coming back to the ranger station detail. The fact that it sits on the other side of the reserve, via a raspberry farm entrance, and probably isn't manned, gives this sighting a specific texture. Whoever Warren is, he was deep enough in the bush that help wasn't a short walk away. That kind of context makes the report feel lived-in and believable.
Tasmania's absence from Yowie lore has always struck me as odd. The island has some of the most rugged, least-explored temperate rainforest on the planet, and it's already home to the thylacine myth. If you were designing a place for a large, shy primate to hide, you'd build something like the Christmas Hills reserve. I'd want to know more about what Warren actually saw, how close he got, and whether anyone else has reported odd sounds or tracks in that forest before. July is winter down there, so the light would've been low and the bush thick. That cuts both ways.
I'm not ready to call this proof of anything, but I'm also not willing to dismiss it. The history of science is full of things that seemed impossible until someone took a closer look.
