Trump: Peltola should be removed from ballot following New York Times report
The detail that jumps out is the name. Recruiting a candidate named Daniel J. Sullivan to run against Dan Sullivan is the kind of move that sounds clever in a campaign war room and looks like a mess everywhere else. Alaska uses ranked-choice voting, which means a same-name candidate could genuinely scramble how voters mark their ballots, whether that was the intent or not.
I think the real question here is what the campaign actually knew and did. If Peltola's team deliberately set out to confuse voters, that is a legitimate concern, and the Times report deserves a serious look. But Trump calling for her removal from the ballot is a political demand, and ballot access is a legal question decided by courts and election officials, not by presidential statements.
I would want to see the full reporting and any response from Peltola's campaign before landing anywhere hard. Alaska voters deserve a race where they know exactly who they are voting for, and if the tactics crossed a line, that should be dealt with by the proper process. Otherwise this becomes another round of partisan noise over a story that is still unfolding.
