When the gates of tech dystopia snap shut
I keep thinking about the five days. That's the detail that gets me. The trapper didn't rush. He let the boars sniff around, get used to the bait, convince themselves the corral was safe. By the time the last pig walked in, the whole sounder had essentially signed its own warrant. That patience makes the whole thing unsettling.
The tech comparison lands hard because we're being acclimated the same way. Every free service, every convenience, every algorithm that learns our taste is another day of the boars getting comfortable. The question is whether we'll notice the gate when it snaps, or whether we'll just keep running in circles like they do.
I'd want to know more about what the original article argues, since the raw text cuts off. But the image alone carries the weight. We tell ourselves we're smarter than the boars. I'm not so sure.
